BEST KOREA - “The Crucible”

As the saying goes, Creativity is Intelligence having fun. Boseman, Montana-based Electro and Synthwave Duo BEST KOREA releases their latest cinematic synth offering “The Crucible.” Inspired by Arthur Miller’s classic play of the same name, the epic track is a poignant and vivid allegory for McCarthyism with a new added spin. Featuring clips from Public Service Videos on the 80’s “Satanic Panic” to serve as an updated metaphor, the track is a stunning reminder to modern listeners that the fear of the unknown doesn’t need to equate hate or violence.

BEST KOREA is the project of Dacotah Stordahl and Ray Jimenez, named after the satirical nickname given to North Korea, often used as a humorous, tongue-in-cheek sarcastic response to the North Korean government’s communist utopian propaganda. Stordahl and Jimenez have been breaking creative barriers by fusing their love for retro-futuristic tech noir films and soundscapes inspired by Vangelis, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna, Gunship, Carpenter Brut, and Perturbator with clever and finesse observations of the world we experience today.
